Saturday, July 1
Left RI nice and early and got to the camp by 1:45pm, even with a stop for lunch at the Mill Street Diner in Lincoln, ME (OK, but not highly recommended). We had a few sun showers when we arrived, but they burned off and we took a boat ride to the town dock so that Kathy could move the truck back to the camp. For dinner we ate ribs, corn and baked beans. MMMMMMMMMM. Afterwards it was cribbage with the cribbage champ and it was Alec's turn to learn how to play this year. The mosquitoes have been having a field day on us RI folks. Good thing we brought LOTS of bug spray. No campfire tonight...the weather is just too iffy.

Sunday, July 2
Awoke to some rain, but it quickly burned off and by lunch time Darin was itching to get that trampoline into the water. We had grinders for lunch and they he started blowing up the trampoline. It took 1/2 hour to fill up with the air pump running full blast! We had so much fun on the trampoline and we took rides on the wave runner afterwards. What an afternoon. The water was cold, but we braved it anyway. Before dinner we eeked out some time to watch the DVD of Cars and then Kathy made her Greek Chicken breast specialty along with some salad and we topped that off with a campfire and some s'mores later on in the evening. The lightning was going full blast to the north of us the entire time we were out at the campfire, but the rain held off 'til we were packing it in for the night at 11pm. What timing!

Monday, July 3
What a wind had blown in overnight and first thing in the morning the trampoline broke its anchor line and Darin & Kathy had to go for a nice dip in the water to rescue the trampoline with it just hanging on one line. They ran out there so fast that Kathy just went in wearing her jammies. The lake had lots of white caps on it so it was quite exciting. During the day Darin worked on and completed a new kayak rack to hold the kayak when they bring it up to camp. Now, of course, he wants a canoe to sit atop his nice new rack. We had grinders again for lunch today and then made a trip into town to Holly's. In the afternoon there was swimming, reading, and knitting to keep us all busy and for dinner we had burgers and dogs. And of course it being Independence Day eve, Darin broke out the sparklers and the kids ran around with those while the adults sat by the campfire. Did I mention we ate s'mores again?

We headed out after breakfast this morning, got the car stuck on a tree stump, but luckily with a few turns we were able to unstick ourselves. It was a bit dicey for a minute or two there. I mean, how the heck do you get a tow truck in Vanceboro???? Poor Miranda battled a case of car sickness the first hour 'til we got to the highway. I don't blame her...the roads are curvy and filled with hills the entire trip to Lincoln. We weren't the only car on the side of the road with occupants getting out and pacing to try and get rid of the sick feeling. We made it to Kittery before 1pm and enjoyed lunch at Bob's Clam Hut, a hoppin' spot on the side of rt. 1 right alongside the outlets. And what trip to Kittery would be complete without a stop at the Kittery Trading Post? We got home before dinner, tired, but relaxed after a fun long weekend. Thank you Kathy & Darin!
